It’s full of retellings, deconstruction, parodies, reimagining of old myths, fables and fairy tales. The short story collection American Ghosts and Old World Wonders is such a treasure trunk. Sometimes it’s not even important to understand every aspect of her short fiction but just to read one of her wonderful sentences, discover one of her splendid images is enough.
